Debate horrorshow
Between the war, the economy, and the election, all I can say is: First thing tomorrow afternoon when I get out of work, I am going to pick up the paperwork to get my passport. Current Mood: expatriatedCurrent Music: "If you leave me now" | | Monday, August 4th, 2008 | | 8:02 pm |
Alexander Solzhenytsen 1918-2008 His excellent writing had a major impact on not just my political outlook but my development as a human being. One of my all time favorite quotes comes from The Gulag Archipelago
"Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either, but right through every human heart--and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even in hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained. And even in the best of all hearts, there remains...an unuprooted small corner of evil" This from a man who knew, firsthand, what the evil--and good--in every human heart was capable of. Rest in Peace.

Short notice
I learned a week or so ago that the man who was appointed to the office of President of the United States will be visiting Connecticut tomorrow. I learned less than an hour ago that one of the places he'll be stopping is right next door to my place of work. Where will I be? Not on the roof or the street corner holding an "IMPEACH!" banner, but in my dentist's office getting my second wisdom tooth pulled. An appointment made six weeks ago, and now impossible to reschedule on short notice. Current Mood: Ironically frustratedCurrent Music: traffic | | Monday, February 11th, 2008 | | 8:50 am |

Worst. Tan lines. Ever.
If you've been bitching about the heat, be grateful you don't work outdoors. My standard gear is : Steel toe boots, long pants, T shirt, gloves, and hardhat with earmuffs. I shaved my head a little while back, so I wear a bandanna to cushion the hat.I'm red from my forehead to my neck, and on my arms from mid-bicep to wrist. Irish fishbelly white everywhere else. I look like some sort of redneck raccoon. A trip (or two. Or three) to the Ledges is definitely in order. |
